Detailed Steps

  • I always make sure the dado faces the same way. You want all your dados, all your _____ (at 00:11) facing the same way. Stacked together, you want your fronts and backs together and your sides together.
  • Then you come over to the dovetail machine, the machine to your end. This is the dovetail machine. Make sure the dust collection is on and make sure the route is open. Turn the dovetail machine on (by turning the switch half-way in the clockwise direction).
  • You’ll have different types of drawer boxes, with different lengths, different widths, so we are gonna align everything up. I just go through and make sure I’ve put the sides closest to me, so that it goes into the machine first. Always put the sides here. Place the fronts and backs behind the sides.
  • The first one I’m gonna grab is the side. I know I got to stack them to here that I’m always grabbing the side. I’ll stick it in with the side going top, the dado towards the back and towards the inside. Snug it flush with the rail, and then you clamp it down.
  • Slide in the fronts and backs (parts) to the machine. Make sure it’s tight back here and tight up there, and make sure the machining bit is in the center. Then put the other side on to the dovetail machine in the same way as the first parts, and clamp down. Then start the machining bit by pressing the two green buttons.
