Adjusting the Scrapers on the 1440 Biesse Edgebander
When to adjust the scrapers -
- When the material that is being scraped off is too thick - It should be thin and flexible, so that it will go up the dust collector shoot and not plug up in the hose.
- When the scrapers get changed
- When the scrapers do not do what they are supposed to, which is take the chatter from the cutter out. It should be smooth and glossy. The best way to see this is to put it up in the light so you can see the reflection.
Here are the steps to adjust the scrapers
- Turn off the brushes and glue scraper (Fig. A & B they are shown on in the picture) This is so when you run a piece through the strip you scrape off will still be attached to the piece of melamine.
- Make sure the scraper is turned on and highlighted in the edit screen (Fig C. so changes can be made)
- Make sure the top and bottom machining is set to the correct setting (1,2, or 3) Keep in mind that we are using 2mm on closet parts but using a 3mm cutter so the setting on the scraper needs to be set for a 3mm scraper.
- I would suggest making one change at a time. The goal is for the pvc that was scraped off should be as wide as the radius of the contour.
- Correct down = the bottom edge of the panel and Correct up is the top side of the panel
- Z is the the height adjustment and Y is the fore and aft adjustment
- Y adjustment - The higher the number the more PVC is taken off, the lower the number the less PVC is taken off
- Z Adjustment - The lower the number the more PVC is taken off, the higher the number the less PVC is taken off.
