  • Operate the SCM Cyflex f900 CNC router.

Detailed instructions below the video

Detailed Steps

  • Log in to the computer and type in the password. The Xilog Plus software can be minimized, and minimize the machine panel software.
  • First thing we want to do is start the SCM Complus program. Once the screen comes up, click on the “Start” button. Wait for the “CONNECTED” message to appear on the program window. Move the program window off to the side.
  • Click on the Machine Panel software to open it up.
  • The first step in operating the machine is to calibrate. So there’s a calibration tab at the top of the screen.
  • Press the white control button: It needs to be pressed and held down and released. Press the button and release it real quick (If all the connections aren’t made, you have to repeat the process).
  • The calibration tab selected, and the control light ON. In the on-screen “Paddle” window, click on the cycle button located towards the bottom left corner of the screen. It starts the calibration process.
  • Once the calibration process is done, you’ll have a message saying “sizing accomplished” displayed towards the bottom left corner of the screen. At this point the machine is ready to start processing the parts.
  • There are two methods for processing the parts. First method, we go over to the “Automatic” tab and click the blue “Play” button.
  • We are gonna manual ______ (3:28 to 3:29) the parts. On the pop-up menu, select “Program” and click “OK”. Then another window pops up. Use that window to browse to the appropriate location, which is C: Drive > Program Files > SCM Group > Xylog Plus > pgm. It will give you a list of the parametric programs. The most common program which is used is the DRG. NOTE: Pay close attention to what program you actually do need to run, that’s usually spelled out on the label. We’ll use “DRG” right now. Select “DRG” and click “Open”.
  • This pops up another window titled “Change header…”, this is where you place the length of the panel. You can change the height of the panel in the DY field. But no machining is done in Y, so DX is the only variable that needs to be changed.
  • If you are machining several of the same sized doors, you can put the quantity of the doors you are machining in the R field.
  • First off, we are going to machine a DX dimension of 1404 mm and I’m going to machine one (R field). Then click ‘OK’. The box down below turns yellow, giving an image of the door to be machined.
  • The next step would be to load the door on to the machine. Start off by pressing the white cycle button (with a white square above) on the machine. This drops the pin and opens up the gripper.
  • Place the hinge-edge down with the back side facing out. Slide the door gently up against the pin. The next step would be to press the foot ______ (at 6:30) that causes the gripper to grip on to the door.
  • Press the white cycle button on the machine, and the program will start.
  • When the program is done, you need to walk to the right side of the machine, to the panel _______ (7:33 to 7:35) of the machine. Remove the finished panel and place it aside.
  • When we are done processing those, click the stop button. Click on the “Yes” button to “Interrupt the current operation” on the dialog box that pops up.
  • We’ll now move to calling programs up using a bar code (or in automatic). Select the “DCR Serial Port” option in the “Select automatic mode” dialog box.
  • Click on the barcode icon, which opens up the “Browse for Folder” window. Then browse to the folder where the programs are selected (the same path that we selected in the manual selection). Then click “OK”.
  • Next step is to scan the bar code. Scan the top bar code from the label on the panel. This is the program that has been machined.
  • Press the white cycle button, and the gripper moved into place.
  • It comes down just like before. Insert the panel on the machine softly against the pin and press the foot_____ (9:50). Press the white cycle button.
  • _______________ (10:27 to 10:29) machine, you can start the process for the second part. Then we’ll scan the bar code; place the panel on the machine, that’s since we are already on the bar code mode. You can see the pin has automatically come down and it’s ready for the next part. Go ahead and start the program and immediately remove the other part from the _____ (11:17).
  • When you’re done machining, press the red stop button, and click “Yes” on the dialog box to interrupt the current operation, and you are finished.
